The Blue Magnolia mushroom is a phenotype, or strain, of the Psilocybe cubensis mushroom. It is considered a wild type, or landrace, because it was discovered growing in nature. An amateur mushroom cultivator known as DOC was actively searching for a wild mushroom to name in hopes of gaining recognition on the now-defunct mushroom forum Mycotopia. In 2011, he discovered a wild Psilocybe cubensis mushroom and named it Blue Magnolia.
Over the next decade, this strain became very popular among hobbyist mushroom cultivators. Initially, DOC—seeking attention—only shared the Blue Magnolia genetics with a select few. After a few years, a spore vendor called Source of Spores obtained a spore print and began commercially producing spore syringes. Since then, many people have come to enjoy cultivating this mushroom for its potency and ease of growth.
If you're interested in acquiring Blue Magnolia genetics, I recommend Thick Spores. I’ve purchased from them many times and exclusively use their products. If you’ve never bought mycology-related products before, be aware that the industry is rife with scams. Even vendors with a strong social media presence and many connections can mislead buyers by selling the same genetics under different names. Thick Spores, however, provides authentic genetics.
